I travelled back from Luvor to the port in November last year. When the convoy of coaches were driving through the uninhabited parts it seemed to me like they were trying to take off! Same feeling as aeroplane going down the runway when you are thinking 'is it going to get off the ground before it crashes through the airport fence.

Hi Have been contemplating a nile cruise next year with excursions however having read the above 2 responses it seems to me that there may be serious risk to life and limb. Surely for these passengers who have stated the above it would be their moral duty to inform Thomson Head Office as I am sure everyone would be extremely interested in their 'official' response. Until then maybe I should cruise somewhere else less harmfu.

Having returned late Thursday night today is my first opportunity to write to Thomson and I will. Don't be put off as we did the 3 main attractions which were all fabulous as was the cruise. The only problem we had was the return journey from Luxor, when a convoy of coaches has to leave at 6pm beacause the police close off all the crossroads to let the buses through. It's a 4hr journey with all buses heading towards the port and Hurghada resort, some 30/40 coaches at least. The tour guides do not return with you on the bus and I guess the drivers revert to the awful, dangerous driving that is commonplace in Egypt. We had no such problems on the Petra trip or into Cairo. The last Red Sea Magic cruise this season is in the brochure as 6 Mar, so hopefully mine and other complaints will make Thomsons tackle this problem. If considering Egypt as a destination, you have to understand the issues within this area and accept that armed guards are everywhere. For our protection.
