My friend and I went on the Saphire Princess in 2006 in early June we done the land tour in Canada the the cruise then a land tour in Alaska we found the whole experience just wonderfuly we had one bad day on the cruise when it rained but that did not stop us the best excursion we went on was the helicoptor ride over the glacier it was quite expensive but worth every penny if you can only afford one excursion it has to be this we went on a few others but to be honest they where very ordinary compared to the helicoptor ride. I take it from your message that the land tour is in Alaska we found this great the train ride although long was wonderful (food on the train in the restaurant was not great)it takes 9 housrs to get into the Danali national park where I went white water rafting and panning for gold accomodation was very good. so I hope you enjoy your self as much as we did. Best wishes Mary.

A great way to see so much.May is a great time- the ships can get closer to the glaciers. would heartily reccommend the float plane/glacier trips, the train, the whale watching- close up and personal rather than a distant ship view.

Rowlands - Answered a Question by mcdonald (24 Dec 07 23:47)

We went on the same trip last May and it was fantastic. The land tour far surpassed the cruise and we want to do it again on our own. The scenery is so spectacular and in May, it is early in the season, so there is still penty of snow. We were very lucky with the weather too and the hotels were fantastic. The tour to the Columbian Icefield was well worth doing, but many of the others were a waste of money - especially the whale watching. The White Pass railway trip was also spectacular in Alaska. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Sylvia Rowlands, Newcastle, England, 24th December 200.
