Royal Caribbean's conversion rate is not all that bad but normally it is better to use your card issuer to convert especially if it is a credit card by issued Nationwide or Post Office. ... Neil.

ALWAYS select the option [b]where the card issuer converts the sum.

I think it depends on which card you use. I never cease to be amazed by the terrible exchange rate that Barclaycard use on top of a hefty fee for using abroad so if using that card would let them do the coversion. However, I intend to use my Nationwide card which always gives a great conversion rate and never makes any additional foreigh transaction charges, so will be insisting we are charged in $ when we sail next month.

When i was on Indy I took a reasonable sum of $ from UK (a local travel agent had a half decent offer). This was kept in my cabin safe. I also kept an eye on the "VIEW BILL" option on the cabin telly and when we were at our last port got a quick top up from a local bank, and as it was Barclays the rate was o/k "ish". I then paid in cash on my last night after having my last drink. The reception is 24/7 and doing it then saves the moring rush at disembarkation. And despite having had a few drinks i was able to sort the bill dead easy. Have a good holiday !!!!!!!!!!!!!11 .
