Basic tips are included in the cruise fare. Passengers are welcome to show appreciation of special crewmembers by adding their own tips, though this is totally discretionary.

I went on Island Star two years ago and didn't tip anyone except on the last day gave the girl who cleaned out cabin some money. I dont think tipping was expected! Well hope not anyway.

We went on a cruise with Royal Caribean about 2 years ago and on the night before disembarking we were told "don't forget, tomorrow is pay day". We were expected to give $20 per DAY to our steward, waiter & head waiter, lesser daily amounts to the various members of staff. We were on the cruise for 7 days and this would have been more than we had paid for the entire cruise. We either expect to tip or have it included in the price we pay on embarkation.
