We just returned from Ventura and the Bay of Biscay. Similar sized ship. Not sure if it's just Ventura but you really did feel the movement. Lots of shuddering and banging and noise. Captain cancelled the Welcome cocktail party due to bad weather. The following day was fine - although Ventura still bobbed about in calm seas. I think you summed it up "there's no such thing as 'normal' weather these days. Just take a sweater, a light rain jacket and enjoy!!!
We were on independence of the seas sailing 31/05/08. We did not even know we were sailing on the Bay of Biscay. In fact I was quite disappointed. I had heard all the horror stories and I can honestly say. it was as smooth as silk. Had rougher water in the bathtub. Helen R.
We were on Indy in June this year and the weather in the Bay of Biscay was a bit rough, but all was good on the ship. It's a huge ship and it's easy to think it may rock and roll a bit, but it didnt. In fact if you didnt go on the upper deck you wouldnt have known.
The comments below are all correct, "normal weather" is what it is on the day, but i'm sure you will enjoy it.
Happy cruising !!!!!
We got back on Saturday frim IOTS. Going out from Southampton through the bay, and into the med it was like a millpond. However, we left Vigo on Thursday evening to head back home through the bay of biscay, and the captain came on the tannoy to tell us there was a big low pressure over the bay, and that the next 12 hours we would have - in his words "motion from the ocean". We sailed through the bay in a Force 10 gale - yes it rocked and rolled all over the place - quite exciting really, but Indy came through it like a dream. You'll be fine.
